4.5 hour review of Northside Kathmandu snow boots
Took these boots out of the box 4.5 hours ago--figured it'd be a good idea to break them in before it was time to pull out the snow shovel. Impressions:1. These are waterproof out of the box. It's been raining for 3 days and I've taken the dogs out, checked the mail, gone out to the car several times, and my feet are dry.2. The sizing is just about right. They initially felt a little small, but the issue is mostly all the synthetic fluff inside the boot which will (sadly) flatten and become matted over time.3. Warm! My feet are ALWAYS cold. The only time I ever had "hot feet" was when I was between 6-9 months pregnant. My feet were cold when I shoved them into the boots, and within 30 minutes they were nice and toasty. They are actually a bit sweaty as I type this review.4. Craftsmanship: deduct a half star. If you are looking for perfect seams and even stitching all around, you will be disappointed. When I just glanced at the boots, they looked GREAT. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that whoever (or whatever--you never know these days) fabricated my boots was not plagued by OCD issues. Not a big deal since the imperfections are simply cosmetic and only apparent when actively scrutinized.5. Tread/sole: deduct another half star. I will be wearing these boots for sledding, shoveling snow, and accompanying my kids to all manner of wintertime entertainment. The tread on these boots is composed primarily of somewhat shallow horizontal grooves across the sole, which is quite thin. Another reviewer indicated that she could almost feel the ground beneath her feet while wearing these boots. That is an exaggeration, but I will say that I can feel the uneven tiles on my kitchen floor through the soles of these boots. On a plus note, the less substantial soles make the boots lighter than they appear. After almost 5 hours of continuous wear (outside, inside, up and down stairs), my leg muscles are not fatigued at all.I really needed something waterproof and warm for the winter, and these boots fit the bill. They are competitively priced and stylish. All in all, I'm really pleased with my purchase and have no problem recommending them to other Amazon.com shoppers.

One thing I'd like to clarify about these boots is the color of ...
I purchased these for my wife and our 13 year old daughter to wear for our upcoming Christmas Ski Trip to Crested Butte, Colorado. We somehow stumbled upon a tremendous sale on the Size 8 in the Honey color and got them for $25 per pair right here on Amazon. In order to jazz them up a little I also ordered a pair of 72" blue boot laces for my daughter's boots...and a pair of 72" emerald green boot laces for my wife's boots. One thing I'd like to clarify about these boots is the color of the rubber. In the photos on Amazon I couldn't really tell what the actual color was. I originally thought the dark part of the rubber was dark green or maybe a dark grey. In reality they are black...not a dark black, but rather a light matte black. The boots look awesome and my wife and daughter are extremely happy with both the look and the fit. These boots have fur along the entire shaft as well as on the underside of the top of the boot. (the part that covers the top of the foot and toes). They also have a removable insole. One cool thing about these boots is that if you don't over tighten them, you can step in and out of the boots without having to untie them...making them the perfect "Leave at the door boots." I have include some photos I took showing what they look like after I switched out the laces to add a little color/flair. (This was also a great way to not get the boots mixed up since my wife and daughter wear the same size) Overall, these are a great alternative to the Sorel Joan of Arctic boots which sell for around $150. (They actually look like a knockoff of the Sorels)

Passed the test!
I absolutely LOVE these boots! I'm the type of person who thinks anything below 75°F/23°C is cold. I also have poor circulation, so I always sleep with socks.I got these for my February trip to Toronto. It passed the test! Temps were low 19°F/-7°C, high 39°F/3°C. I played in the snow and never felt cold, or had wet feet. They also weren't too heavy, so I was able to walk outside all day.

Minnesota winter tested and approved :)
These are a great buy for what you get. I live in Minnesota and we get frigid winters, but these kept my feet nice & toasty. The boots details aren't quite as nice looking as a pair of, say, sorels but for the price these are a good purchase. Also, some reviews stated the soles of these were way too thin, and yes I agree the soles are thinner than the average boot but I have not had any issues at all. These are light weight, not clunky, and perfect for running errands in.I replaced the brown laces with 63" red laces and am in love with the look!!! Almost like a sorel Joan of arc but at less than half the price. Win!

Great boots, great price!
My 25 y/o daughter wanted Sorel Joan of Arctic boots for Christmas, and they were way out of my budget. These are a very similar style for a much better price. They look like a much more expensive boot. She loves them! Warm, dry, comfy, not too heavy/stiff/clunky or hard to walk in like many warm Winter boots can be. I bought the black ones for myself as well. Here in Wisconsin, I do need to wear thick outdoor socks under them for really cold weather, (and I have wider feet) so I ordered half a size up as a bit of air space is needed to keep feet warm. If it's not as cold where you live, or you have narrower feet, I recommend ordering your normal street shoe size. I don't think I could get away with wearing them for an all-day outing below 25F, but they're perfect for our purposes.

Not the colour I ordered and poor quality
I order a light beige colour which is called Gingerbread but I received the dark brown colour which is called Chocolate. I had to return it because it was the wrong colour. However I did not re order it as the quality was very poor and the stitches were coming off.

Good for price
These boots were a perfect fit, and very warm and comfy. For the price, they are fantastic quailty. However, like someone else wrote, the back of the right boot seems to have a bit of plastic or something sticking out slightly that is rubbing against my ankle. I'm not sure how to fix this or if it's a defect with the pair I got. I decided to keep them and deal with it but other than that they're great. Hopefully not all the pairs have the same problem.

Possible defect makes these boots very uncomfortable
Received these boots yesterday. I am usually a size 8-8.5, and ordered a 9 but they are snug. I can feel my toes right at the tip of the boot, and it is especially snug around the heel area. The price has increased since my purchase, so I'm hoping they will wear-in a bit. They seem like decent quality. My only complaint / concern is that the tongue is only attached for the first 4 inches or so. Higher up, tere is no lining to prevent snow from getting in behind it and into the boot. The tongue does sit behind the boot laces pretty well if the laces are done very tightly, so I'm hoping that is enough to keep snow out. But I imagine if the tongue shifts at all, or the laces loosen, it will be a problem.Edit: I have now worn these boots for a total of about 3 hours and am updating my rating from 4 to 2 star. The right boot only has begun digging into my foot, right where the rubber ends in top of the foot / lower ankle area. It has sort of folder in and it makes these boots very uncomfortable to wear. I bought these for a trip to Banff next week and am very disappointed. I will have to look for something else now and am not sure if I can return these used, but will try.
