Not worth the $$$
I bought this awhile ago and am fairly disappointed with this unit. I first contacted Popcorn Hour tech support before I bought this to verify this unit does play DVD rips easily (VIDEO_TS folders, not just individual VOB's). I have a media player that works flawlessly for what I want it to do that was less than half the price of this popcorn Hour unit. I bought the VTEN so I could use it on another TV in another room.I upgraded the firmware and really tried to spend some time getting to know the unit. First off, don't even bother trying to use this unit wirelessly...the wireless adapter than came with this worked, but it is slow as anything. I wound up running Ethernet directly to the box. Then I found that while it in fact did play DVD rip's (VIDEO_TS folders) it ignores menus and jumps straight to the movie. Fine if you just want to watch a movie, but useless if you want to browse to a specific chapter or scene. There were some RIP's I have that didn't play at all, but play on my other media player with no problems.I also RIP my music collection digitally and use my media players to play my RIPped CD's etc. I found that with the VTEN unit, in order to play a whole CD song after song you'll need to load up a playlist of each song...not too much of a pain, but I find it unnecessary if all songs are located in the same folder. Again, my other media player does this flawlessly....unfortunately, they don't make that player anymore. If I had seen a review like this before I bought it, I would not have bought it. I blame myself for really giving this a chance to 'get it' to work, rather than just return it when I had time to.

Older versions of this product are far superior. Stay away from this iteration!
I've been a huge fan of Popcorn Hour products since the A-100 came out years ago. I bought the A-100, A-110 and A-200 all without much problem in using them with my media center. This was supposed to be an upgrade over those systems and it ended up being very unreliable and a hassle to troubleshoot with support. I ended up returning it for a partial refund, but even that's better than having to pay full price for this product. I'd stay away if you value stability in your media center.

High Hopes. Updates to come.
I have had Boxee Box (needed for FULL Passthrough of video and audio) for lossless audio and video streaming. WDTV for DTS MA and TrueHD converted to PCM. Roku 2 XS, Popcorn hour A-100. Awaiting delivery of this today. Looking forward to setting up and updating with details. I do recall the NMJ being quite a pain in the ass, as well as connecting to your MAC.Update: after spending several months with this now. I have to saw it is by far and away the best streaming unit if you must have lossless audio and video. Couple that with its excellent networking capabilities, interested IMPROVED NMJ and more... It's what I've been waiting for. And in 4K?!?! Wow. The only thing I'd like improved upon is the NMJ UI. Take notes from roku guys.
