… but when it eventually works a couple hours later, my boyfriend does sleep hard for the rest of the night. It took me at least two hours to fall asleep also the first time I tried, and I just haven’t gone back to it. I’m so bummed that Natures Bounty stopped making theirs. it was very strong and we only needed one capsule instead of the four they had recommended on their bottle and wow, I would feel drowsy in a half an hour. But with theirs I would wake up feeling foggy and that’s not true with this one. On the other hand, my boyfriend wakes up feeling foggy a bit with this one and with the other one. We’re just also different I think., Anyway, i just don’t think Valerian is for me, but my boyfriend will still reach for this one half the week. It’s better than being awake for, who knows how much longer.

I had my doubts when I purchased this pill because there are so many paid reviews out there, but let me tell you, this one actually works. The back of the bottle says it promotes relaxation and helps sleep, it does. I suffer from anxiety, I get anxious during class presentations, group work, public speaking, anything that has to do with me being put on the spot. Not only do I suffer from anxiety but I also get the embarrassing symptoms that come with anxiety: sweating, rapid heartbeat, hot flashes, etc. It got to a point where I wanted to avoid going out to places so I wouldn't get anxious and begin sweating and feel embarrassed. I wasn't expecting too much from this pill, but I was surprised with the results. The recommended dosage is three pills, but since I take these before school, not bed, I decided to just take one to see how my body reacted to it. Well, I took one and about one hour later I realized my heart wasn't beating as fast as it usually does. I would get really nervous before this one class because the Prof would randomly call on people, but after taking this pill I felt relaxed. Yes, I was still worried about being called on, but my heart wasn't racing and I wasn't sweating! I didn't feel numb either, its hard to explain. I guess, for the first time in many years I felt "normal" like I didn't have to worry about the "what ifs" of sweating, anxiety, and nervousness. I was also worried this pill was going to make me sleepy but I didn't feel sleepy or drowsy all day. I don't want to become dependent on these pills so I take them only when I really feel like I need the help. I also only take one sometimes two if I feel super nervous, but I feel like one pill will suffice. I think if I were to take three then I might feel sleepy but not sure since I haven't taken more than two. The pills are big and STINK! Take them before you leave your house so you won't be embarrassed to open the bottle in public because the smell will travel quickly! haha. The smell is no big deal compared to what the pill actually does for you. Anyway, I recommend this pill for people who easily get anxious, nervous, have a hectic lifestyle, suffer from stress, etc. It worked for me and I'm so glad I found this because I didn't want to get prescribed medication.

Couldn't take it. The jar smells like vomit. It triggered a gag reflex in me. Return policy is a hard no. I'm throwing this away and firing the acupuncturist who recommended it.

The odor is STRONG and BAD. Like freshly laid mulch. The recommended dose is 3 capsules, but I can't take more than one. They are large and the smell gets stuck in my nose and it also makes me burp a little. I don't know if it works for sleep or not. I'm on day 3. I'll keep trying.

I need a sleep aid that will relax me, allow me to feel like I am drifting into a natural sleep, and last all night long. I also need a sleep supplement that will not be addictive or make me feel hung-over the next morning. After trying melatonin and other sleep aids with varying results, I decided to give Valerian root a try. I like Nature's Way products because they get good quality ratings from independent surveys when testing the content of the products (it actually contains the product it says it does). I took one capsule and actually began to feel mildly relaxed after about 90 min. I feel asleep very naturally and slept most of the night. I awoke feeling refreshed but not super-duper rested. The next night I took one pill about 2 hours before bedtime and another one just as I climbed in bed. MAGIC!!! I have now been following that routine about 3 times a week for about 2 months. I don't do it every night because I don't want to become reliant on the product and mu sleep issues are intermittent. This stuff is truly amazing and has completely repaired my sleep cycle! I relax easily before bedtime, fall asleep naturally, rest well (no middle of the night wakefulness--even if I get up to use the restroom, I fall right back to sleep). Fully rested and rejuvenated in the morning. I wear a sleep tracker watch--before Valerian= 2.5 deep sleep, 3.5 light sleep. With Valerian = 3.75 deep and 4.5 light. It seriously makes all the difference for me.
