Chappelle's Show - Season 2

~"Let's start the show!"~
What else can be said about the comedic genius of Dave Chappelle? The good, the GREAT!, along with the bad and the ugly have all been written about the man, YET these words still seem inadequate when discussing him. It is awesome to know that he has returned to us via his roots: stand-up comedy, and no matter the venue that he has played, his shows are always sold out. It's not that he ever stopped doing stand-up, you could always find sporadic cellphone videos of his appearing without notice in different places. But, despite having walked away from his hit show over 10 years ago, every single show at Radio City Music Hall last year all sold out when his announced his first tour in years, literally within hours when tickets went on sale. It's no wonder Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, and Katt Williams all agree: nobody can touch Dave Chappelle. In case we forgot about his immense talent and particular viewpoint; let us allow Chappelle's Show to refresh our memories, while the tears roll down our faces from laughter. I have the first 2 seasons on DVD, and yet I will still come here to Prime to enjoy him, just like it was the first time. His shows are now just as classic as The Little Rascals, for those of us who remember Our Gang. From Rick James, to Prince, to Tyrone Biggums, and even as a Playa Hater, Chappelle is on top of his game with every episode. Hopefully one day I can see him perform live, but until then, whether by digital or by disc, I'll press play, let the guitar strike the cords as we are told, "Let's start the show!"No diggity. No doubt.

Non-Stop Laughs!!!
When I purchased Chappelle's Show-Season 1, I expected what I got out of Season 2. It is hands down one of the funniest TV series I've ever had the pleasure of watching. It's a prime example of how accepting everyone should be when it comes to Great Sketch Comedy- forget about how someone could be offended by something they see and ponder the question "how could someone not laugh at this?" It's realy quite simple: Either you have a sense of humor or you don't. If you do have a sense of humor, you'll be rolling on the floor hysterically. If you don't possess a sense of humor, then most likely you'll just be watching the show to see how much good humor can offend a human being. The fact is everyone is entitled to their own opinions and interpretations-INCLUDING THE PERSON WHO CREATED THIS SHOW! Thank God we live in America-where we can laugh at anything we wish. This is surely one to add and KEEP in the collection. I truely enjoyed every aspect of the show and hope that I can expect no less from Season 3. The guy is a comical genius. HE KNOWS WHAT MAKES PEOPLE LAUGH! Prove me wrong. Laughter makes everybody feel better. The average kid laughs 300 times a day. The average adult laughs 4 times a day. My suggestion-Pick up Chappelle's Show-Season 2 and feel like a kid for a good while. Everyone deserves a good couple hundred laughs every once in a while, Don't you?

Legendary
The thing I think some people may not realize that in Chappelle show's sketches is that even though there is a funny, or outright hilarious base layer, that anyone can understand, there is also a deeper message. Whether it's about how we can be unified in our differences, or shedding light on real problems in a controversial way, so that it will cause a discussion without feeling like it's forced.

Dave had it back then
Dave is a comic genius. His newer material from his recent return to comedy have nothing on the old stuff. Dave gets pissed when people shout, "I'm Rick James bitch!" at him today, but he needs to get back to his roots and understand what is really funny. His latest material is half-assed and not very incisive and he practically got booed and heckled off the stage at a recent stand up routine in Hartford because he is just not as funny as he used to be. These old sketches are gems and there are many skits that are bust a gut funny. I don't think there is any comedian alive today as funny as Dave Chappelle used to be, including Dave Chappelle today.

It's About Damn Time!
No sophomore slump for this guy. The second season is even more a riot than the first, thanks largely to his impersonations of Rick James and Prince. Bringing Charlie Murphy onto the show was a masterstroke and he delivers these sketches with dead pan precision. Chappelle has such a tremendous range and razor sharp humor that one is reminded of a young Eddie Murphy. His "Black Bush" is spot on, a perfect send up to the current administration. The "Racial Draft" cuts across racial lines in an amusing farce of inter-racial celebrities. Then there are "The Time Haters" who go back to the antebellum days of America to free the slaves, and his side-splitting spoof on "Samuel Jackson" beer. The second season is jammed pack with great sketches and I hope that Dave will get his act together soon so that we can enjoy another season on Comedy Channel. In the meantime one can enjoy his first two seasons uncensored and unblurred in all their glory.

One of the Best ever
This Show is not for everyone. Dave really hits on some serious topics for most people, and this is what ultimately brought the end to his show.If you can't watch anything without understanding that it is a skit, then you probably won't care for Dave's take on life. If you like shows like Mad TV, SNL, In Living Color, Kids In The Hall, then you will most likely enjoy this.Side note: This review is for the streaming amazon season(s) and not any of the physical dvd's or sets out there.

High-Larious - Still, to this day.
Circa-2004 Dave; this show was, in the vernacular of the time, 'The Shiz-nit'; super-massive in the pop culture of the then. Except that, in the here and now, when Comrade-edy-Central-Corp. re-re-runs this show 8-plus years later, I still watch it on the Basic Cable. Because, as there is no more crystalline-clear way to put it, this S*** is FUNNY. In hindsight, Dave's huge payday for the stillborn Season 3 (sketches eventually cobbled together as a handfull of 'Lost Episodes') seems akin to the 'New Coke', but simply given the potential upside, based on the quality, hilarity & popularity of these episodes, I can at least comprehend Viacom's over-enthu$ia$m. Dave, you are missed in the present day comedy-verse; I, for one, would welcome your return.

Region 1!!!
Does not work on my DVD player. I specifically bought this DVD because a lot of the other ones for sale stated that they were region 1, this one did not, so foolishly i assumed it would work in the UK. It did not!

Hillarious!!!!
This DVD box set will stand the test of time. It's unfortunate that the series ended so soon. My only complains are that 1) there are no subtitles and 2) the laugh track is at times too high that it interferes with your ability to hear some of the funny lines during the skits. If they ever decide to rerelease the series on DVD/Blue Ray, they need to consider doing both in order to make watching the series that much more enjoyable. I bought it used, so I can't complain much. If it ever gets rereleased with subtitles and better audio, I would definitely buy another brand new copy. Two thumbs way up!!!!

Must-own
It is so easy to find this stuff on the internet for free nowadays, but the 2 seasons of Chappelle's Show are a must-own. I got it for my boyfriend for Christmas after we had rented it from our local Video Difference. We both laughed our asses off and this stuff does not get old. It is like our growing Seinfeld collection. Even if you have seen it a million times, you can always watch it again in a year or 10 months and it will be funny again.
