Yoga Meditation Buckwheat Bolster Pillow Cushion

Caused an infestation of mites...
There's some type of contamination with these yoga cushions. I bought 25 of them for a class and I kept a few with me. Earlier this year (around Feb 2017), I finally opened up one and found hundreds if not thousands of mites inside it; it was also then I realized that they were everywhere in my living room. It seems like they were some type of rodent mites and did not feast on human hosts(thank God!); it took me months to finally clean them out of the house. I wasn't going to write a review at first because I wasn't sure if it really came with the cushion. Today I passed a few boxes in my garage and smelled something really foul (like something died) and remembered that these were still the unopened boxes of the cushions. I took a quick look at the box and noticed there were some mites crawling around. This pretty much confirmed that there were something wrong with these cushions. I honestly would never order it and if you do, I highly recommend checking it out to make sure there's nothing in, or on it.

It does the trick🧘♀️
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This meditation bolster serves the purpose, it’s not as fancy as some of the meditation pillows I’ve seen, but it definitely works just as good. The material/fabric isn’t high quality, neither is the stitching🧵 but it still works well and looks okay. This will be my travel bolster pillow, I don’t care if it gets dirty. I will invest in a more expensive pillow at a later date. All in all, the color is attractive and it works great; the pillow is full and firm and I like the 13X13 size, it gives the illusion that I’m floating on air🧘♀️

Good choice if you like the buckwheat hull filling
I ordered the larger cushion, and in retrospect, should have gotten the smaller one (I'm 5'8", 160 lbs). Other than that, I am happy with this cushion. It seems sturdy and well made, and the cover comes off for washing. I can easily shift the buckwheat hulls around for comfort, and once I put my weight on them, they "lock" into place to provide very firm support. The height of this cushion is also good for me. If I were doing it over again, though, I'd probably get a cotton-stuffed cushion because that's the kind I have come to prefer at the local meditation center (cincinnatizencenter.org).Edit: I did get a cotton-stuffed cushion (Round Zafu Cushion for Yoga and Meditation), but my favorite cushion has turned out to be the Zafu Organic Cotton Meditation Pillow: Rondo Style with Liner (black, standard 12 inch).

Finally, I'm actually able to sit and meditate!
I was kind of doubtful about the need for a special cushion just for meditation, but I'm very glad I bought this. It's very comfortable, looks nice, and seems to be well constructed. It's perfect for cushioning the pelvic bones while seated, and the height is just right. The buckwheat filling is just the right density. Far superior to a typical pillow-like cushion, and certainly feels better than sitting on the floor or a mat. Since I got this, I'm actually doing a regular meditation practice- something I could just never seem to do before. I highly recommend this.

The best zafu!
This is a wonderful zafu. Very comfortable, and with 4.5" thicker than the usual 3" or 3.5" ones. Since I am relatively tall with long legs, I really enjoy the comfort of this thicker cushion. I bought the 13" x 13" version. There's also al larger one (16"), but the 13" is the normal zafu size and just fine for me. I really like the buckwheat filling, as it is both comfortable and stable. It won't sink in after a while, so you can arrange the pillow in a way that it supports you sitting upright. The only (slight) drawback is that the buckwheat has a specific smell. I donÄt mind it and actually associate it positively with my mediation, but I am mentioning it as there may be people who dislike it or may react allergically. All in all, the best zafu!

Initial reaction: Awesome for my back during meditation!
I received this today and used it during my meditation. It was amazing. I have suffered from back pain since I was 12 and sitting cross legged or even straight up in a straight back chair is impossible for me without a lot of discomfort. I am constantly giving up on my meditation practice because of all the discomfort. I don't like meditating lying down. For years I've talked myself out of buying a zafu because I didn't think a special pillow was going to make a difference. Boy was I wrong. In just a single session I was able to double the time I sat using this cushion. I was more mindful during my practice because I wasn't distracted by the pain I was in! If you struggle to sit during meditation because of back pain I highly recommend giving this a shot! This is my initial review and I will update if anything changes!

Poor quality items
I ordered this 3 times. The first 2 times I got used ones in open boxes. First one had animal hair and the zipper was broken. Second had suspicious white crusty stains (YEP). Third times a charm I hoped, but although it seemed newer, was completely unraveled at the seam by the zipper. The stitching was pretty bad on the first two, all around. At least the 3rd one was sealed in the box. I really tried to give this a chance but I'll have to order one that is a better brand. These are cheap, but I sat on the third one it was great. I just don't expect it to last a week for the money, sadly. The box says contact customer service but couldn't get a hold of anyone and I have Prime.

best bang for buck.
Just did a 10-day vipassana retreat and this helped out really well. Well-made and sturdy. Highly recommend over others that cost 2-3x the price. Thought it might be too small but it's pretty perfect (i'm 6'1 and 180lb).
