It's color (AVI). At night has a slight infrared overlay. But still color. Your display you use it needs to be color also.

Q: Is the image reversed or normal?

Normal I think some people install it upside down maybe.

Q: Does this camera have to attach to the license plate? I live in Texas where it's illegal for backup camera's to cover up information on the plates...
