I always buy my sons a special gift for Christmas. Just a little something that let's them know, " dad's thinking about us". This one was a hit. My youngest even sit and looked at it, until bedtime Christmas night.

I bought this for my grandson's confirmation. To be honest, it looked pretty cheap to me - the brass looks tarnished and the needle is not very sturdy. However, my grandson loved it, especially the leather pouch to carry it in and the button that keeps the needle in place. For that reason, I'll give it 4 stars.

For me God is my compass, but my grandkids are not of age yet to live by that. So but nothing says that I can not train them up starting with this compass which also reminds them of God Himself. This is a high quality product that will endear my granddaughter for years if not a lifetime.

I love these kinds of old-fashioned pieces. I'm not going to sit here and tell you this is the highest of quality. It's clearly made cheap, which is easily discernible by how it feels. But for the price, I'm not sure who would expect legit high-quality gold. But that's where the concern stops. The compass works well, it has a switch so you can stop and hold the needle in place, I'm not a compass expert, so I don't know what the purpose of that Is, but it does it nonetheless. So all in all, for 25 bucks, if you want something that's old-fashioned looking that will be a conversation starter, then I would recommend this purchase.

I bought this for a friend who is going on a month-long hike in another country. Great gift and he was quite pleased receiving it.
