Q: would this be compatible with the elinchrom d lite please?

Not directly. The spine of the umbrella is 8mm and the in built umbrella hole on the elinchrom is 7mm. There is a clamp (at least on the rx4’s ) built into the holding mechanism but I wouldn’t advise using it to support the umbrella unlesss it’s perfectly balanced as I broke one of my holding clamps trying to support a 7ft silver umbrella. (I.e. don’t hold the umbrella at the end hold it at the mid point - just place the umbrella spine in far enough so the strobe on the d lite just gets hidden by the umbrella when viewed from the side,

Q: Which do you recommend White or silver?

In regards to the colour difference of silver and white, the Silver has a Silver interior, which produces a cooler, slightly more contrast look, compared to that of the White. Since the interior surface is reflective compared to that of a white, specular highlights highlights are more pronounced. The White has a white interior, which produces a warmer feeling.
